Inaugurated in 1997, the company was formed to develop growth areas within the sports industry. The management team having 50 years combined experience in synthetic sports systems with a strong background in building and civil engineering provided a solid base from which the company may grow.

Initially we specialised in artificial turf pitches only. However, as the market creates further demands and also in a bid to utilise our specialist background resources of both management and workforce, we have embraced the construction of natural pitches, tennis surfaces, athletics facilities and associated building work including clubhouses and pavilions.

In 1999 we were accepted onto the UK register for approved contractors and consultants, Constructionline. This gave further sound assurance to our clients that our procedures of work from administration through to the finished article pertain to a very high standard of practice.

In the same year, a separate company, AP Thompson Sports Engineering (Ireland) was formed to offer a dedicated service to the Irish market. This company has permanent staff based in Ireland offering the same product portfolio as the UK structure.

New for 2001, is the formation of the tennis trading division, to undertake the construction of tennis courts and small multi sport court areas. It is staffed by a small group of tennis enthusiasts keen to provide value for money facilities with a new slant on traditional surfaces.
